Sue Moberly has spent the past 30 years as an art educator in the Madison Metropolitan School District. Most recently as the Metal and Glass teacher at Madison West High school. Now she has decided to pivot toward offering Metalsmith classes to the general public in the surrounding areas.
"I have felt the pull of the torch flame since my first Art Metal class at the UW-Madison, with Professor Emeritus Fred Fenster. After earning my degree I immediately entered Art Education, and have since taught Kindergarten through Edgewood College adult students. I treasure the bonds and relationships that can be made while creating art. I have been extremely blessed!" - Sue

Torn Edge Arts is the business name I chose several years ago, while selling my jewelry at Art Fairs. I am drawn to the concept that each of us has struggled, healed, grown, and continues to seek strength. The kind of strength and beauty that is born from those little torn edges inside.
Sign-up for classes through this webpage. Go up to the “classes” tab and click. There is a drop down menu listing class descriptions, times, and prices. Payments are processes right from there, or call to enroll.
All tools and materials are included in the class price. If you wear readers, bring them along.
Safety first! I have a class waiver to sign when you arrive. Minors are welcome 16 years and above, or younger with an adult. Here is a copy of the waiver if you would like to read it in advance. In general, closed toe shoes, cotton clothing and hair pulled back are good studio practices.
Parking is available on either side of Monroe Street, on the side streets, or at the city parking lot right next to the library.
Cancellations happen! Expect a full refund up to 7 days in advance. Changes made less than 7 days in advance - I am happy to credit you with a different class. "No shows" will not be refunded or credited. Thank you.
Planning a party, book club event, team building, date night, friends night out, kid birthday, solo escapism, new hobby? That all happens here!
Forever Bracelets? Welded in place, these claspless chains can be placed on a wrist, or an ankle. They can be removed with a wire cutter, or even a strong scissors. I offer sterling silver and gold fill chain, please call to schedule an appointment.
Repairs? Project to complete? Yes! Just give a call to schedule. 608-698-7644
Am I forgetting anything? I am sure I must be.

Review/Testimonial -
"If you have ever been curious about jewelry making and have wanted to give it a try, you should absolutely sign up for a class with Sue at Torn Edge Arts. I had never done any soldering or metal arts of any kind before taking a class with Sue. I was nervous about my lack of experience, but it was not necessary. Sue is a very patient teacher, you get a lot of individual attention, and the classes are laid back and upbeat. Highly recommend." G.J. |
